Hip Hop Class Descriptions
Hip Hop I
This class teaches the fundamentals of hip hop in a fun, energetic atmosphere.
Hip Hop II (placement only)
This class begins to break down the different styles of this genre. The dancer will learn the fundamentals of breaking and basic stunts while building his or her confidence as a performer.
Hip Hop III (placement only)
Building on level II, this class explores more urban street styles such as locking, popping, krump and funk. The dancer will learn to find his or her own personal style through freestyle exercises and build confidence as a performer.
Hip Hop IV (placement only)
This level explores the history and current styles of this genre. The dancer will learn intricate combinations and advanced choreography.
Popping and/or poplocking is a form of robotic and fluid movements. This class will introduce “Popping” at its core fundamentals. Hitting, waving, gliding, tutting, etc. are the some of the core fundamentals that will be taught and will directly lead into our choreography for the term.
