Class Descriptions
Pre-Tap/Jazz
Your 5-7 year old will learn to love tap and jazz here! We’ll shuffle, flap and stomp our way through the dance year, while incorporating the basics of jazz. Dancers will learn simple combinations and play fun games. For the 2020-21 dance year, this class is offered at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Tap/Jazz I
This class will combine both tap and classic jazz dance, while keeping the prevalent, age-appropriate pop style. Join us for a fun class where dancers flourish in their training! For the 2020-21 dance year, IA is offered at 3 p.m. Monday, and IB is offered at 4 p.m. Monday.
Modern I
Dance exploration of time, space, energy, rhythm, and shape while gaining an understanding of the body and how it moves. For the 2020-21 dance year, choose from 4 p.m. Tuesday or 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Modern II (placement only)
Deeper exploration of the concepts time, energy, space and rhythm with continued learning of where each of the movements are coming from physically. For the 2020-21 dance year, this class will be combined with Jazz II at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Modern III/IV (placement only)
Deeper exploration of the concepts of time, energy, space and rhythm with continued learning of where each of the movements are coming from physically. For the 2020-21 dance year, this class will be offered at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Jazz II (placement only)
This class teaches the basics of classic jazz dance while keeping the prevalent, age-appropriate pop style. Building on level one, the dancer will learn stylistic elements as well as strengthening and flexibility. For the 2020-21 dance year, this class will be combined with Modern II at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Jazz III/IV (placement only)
This level builds upon technicality and style, adding leaps, turns, center work and stunts. The dancer will be expected to perform intricate combinations as well as explore the theatricality of the style. For the 2020-21 dance year, this class will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
